Customization
of an application portal Web page is simple. The researcher
only has to add or change a few lines containing HTML/FORM
elements on a Web page. When the user submits the form,
the variables are sent to a specialized script running
on a Web service (called a service portal), which processes
the request and passes the information on to be handled
by existing portal and infrastructure. Results from
the command are then returned back to the user when
the task is done.
